What about this to fix #2 instead of 8592564 ?

I like it, however I tried it and it seems to have the same problem as my fix. When booting the N900, usb0 does not come up with an IP address and I have take down usb0 and bring it back up to for it to work. Is usb0 coming automatically on boot for you?

These two fixes work for me on boot.

I just tried your fix on a fresh install on a clean partition with two different kernels and the interface is not coming up automatically. It's fine after I bounce the usb0 interface but it's definitely not coming up at boot time. Are you sure that you haven't done anything else to get this working?

Oh! I'm sorry these fixes don't work at boot. Anyway, please, take a look at #22
