It would be nice to make an example project to showcase how to integrate Fancy Fades, however I'm not sure it would be a good idea to integrate it directly in the base template.
There are a lot of addons that I considered adding to the base template (see https://github.com/crystal-bit/godot-game-template/wiki/5.-Addons-&-Plugins), however there's a risk to bloat the codebase this way.
I prefer to keep the complexity as low as possible for now, since I don't have that much time to maintain the template anyway.
