Is it possible to use Products.CMFEditions for cover type, including it's Layout and Compose tabs?

Following the docs:

Versionable content items edit views now allows saving a version on save (automatically or manually). The version history may be accessed quickly from the view view.

So, if we set the behavior "Versioning: Versioning support with CMFEditions" it works for collective.cover, but only for the edit view. For you that have more experience with collective.cover's internals, how difficult would be to implement the same versioning pattern but for Layout and Compose tabs?
