Understanding these domain-specific obstacles and identifying the next forward step to domain-specific adoption are critical to overall open science progress.

The strengths of open science in one domain may be perceived as, or even are actual, weaknesses in a different domain. One-size-fits-all, or universal, approaches are unlikely to exist at each critical component of open science workflows.
