Ibis is a popular project that provides Pandas-like API for backend compute engines and databases. People from the Ibis community is interested in adding backend support for Apache Sedona: ibis-project/ibis#7999

Ibis already supports PySpark and its Flink support will be out soon. It shouldn't be very hard to add Sedona's geospatial support to it.

Is there anyone who is interested in taking a lead on this?

@jiayuasu have you given this issue any more thoughts? Since this was open, the Flink backend as well as the refactor to SQLGlot happened.
