/usr/lib/cpp (one used by dtrace) removes only one whitespace between name and definition in #define.

test.c:

#define ONE_SPACE yes
#define TWO_SPACE  yes2

&``ONE_SPACE
&``TWO_SPACE

output from /usr/lib/cpp test.c :

#1 "test.c" 



&``yes
&`` yes2

expected &``yes2 instead of &``yes2 (notice the space between ````andyes2)
