Overview

OmniTrack For Research is a research platform that enables researchers to conduct in-situ data collection studies without programming.

The following diagram shows simplified flows starting from the installation of the platform to the deployment of a study app to study participants:

The columns indicate where the interactions occur. The blue rectangles indicate the interactions of administrator, who holds the master privilege on handling the server machine. The green rectangles indicate the interactions of experimenters, who conduct studies using OmniTrack For Research.

OmniTrack for Research was designed to minimize the role of experimenters regarding low-level tasks such as accessing Terminal for some programming work. Also, the role of the administrator was also minimized that the installation process can be done for less than 1~2 hours from scratch.

Once the platform is installed, experimenters can do every task regarding conducting a study on a web-based research dashboard and the master app (the researcher's version of OmniTrack app). Experimenters can even deploy Android apps for their study without compiling the source code on their local computer.

OmniTrack for Android works on smartphones that run Google Play. This may affect your study plan especially if you are planning to run a study in some regions such as China.
