I also get these exceptions, but they do not let the editor get stuck. You really should test the latest master version (There's a reason we added that checkbox in opening the issue to make sure the issues are not have not already been resolved) |

At least in my case I have observed that any activity of the jabref task ceased completely looking at the windows task manager. I had a similar situation some hours ago, but did not make any attempts to look at circonstances. |

You are right, we are only a bunch of programmers hacking on JabRef in our freetime. It would be nice if we could get professional support in terms of a quality manager, community manager and project manager. If you happen to know someone that it is willing do offer their help for free, we would be very glad! Sorry for this slightly sarcastic answer, but you should understand that JabRef is developed as a hobby without any professional support and thus adopt your expectations accordingly. That being said, the issue should be fixed with #3591. |

I can confirm the report by @liubenyuan on current master (actually JabRef does not freeze, but the entry editor get corrupted). Here's a corresponding exception from the log: Log FileSeems like some part of the files model still executes on the wrong thread. I tried to reproduce the other problems mentioned in this thread, but failed to do so. |

As it happens on the General window, it must been something with the files. as the files model internally uses the Observable LIsts |

JabRef 4.2-dev--snapshot--2018-02-03--maintable-beta--7fb331130 I cannot even get that build to start, let alone test. After starting JabRef, it is shown as “not responding”, even before the main window appears. Maybe this log contains some information for you. Log File |

Thanks @brian-ammon for testing the new version. The freezing issue on MacOS is also reported by other users and we are currently having a look at how to fix it. Your log should help with that, thanks! Would you do me the favor of trying out the build https://builds.jabref.org/javafxGlobalEverything/. Right now, this version lacks almost all functionality but it may fix the start-up problem. |

@tobiasdiez JabRef_macos_4_2-dev--snapshot--2018-02-02--javafxGlobalEverything--94027da11 does start for me without any problems. Menu bar and side panel are missing however, but I suppose that is what you meant with “it lacks almost all functionality“. I just noticed that trying to close the application seems to crash it, though, and I had to kill it. |

With JabRef_windows-x64_4_2-dev--snapshot--2018-02-20--master--ea8ccb39c In a windows 64 system the problem is persistent; the issue with the space bar making the cursor jump at the begining of the line was fixed but the software remains unusable for windows 64 (as was the 4.1 stable version), as the entry editor freezes, or the entry slots dissapear, for example, when selecting a new tab after filling up the required fields.
