JabRef version

Latest development branch build (please note build date below)

Operating system

Windows

Details on version and operating system

Windows 10 21H2

Checked with the latest development build

  • I made a backup of my libraries before testing the latest development version.
  • I have tested the latest development version and the problem persists

Steps to reproduce the behaviour

NOTE:

  1. Same Jabref extension works fine with JabRef 5.4 within the same corporate firewalled network environment and on the same Windows 10 computer.

  2. The following bug report is being reported with a slightly earlier version of JabRef 5.10 due to long lead time involved in installing latest 5.10 build within corporate environment.

  3. Download and admin install JabRef 5.10 within a corporate firewall environment on Windows 10 computer, post install details as follows.

JabRef 5.10--2023-07-18--34ac6d1
Windows 10 10.0 amd64
Java 21-internal
JavaFX 20+19

Browser: MS Edge, Version 115.0.1901.188 (Official build) (64-bit)
Jabref browser extension: Version 2.5

  1. Import SSL certificate within Preferences->Network. Use the custom proxy option within Preferences->Network.

  2. Verify internet connectivity using the button in Preferences->Network. Confirmed that it works.

  3. Go to https://arxiv.org/abs/2307.14043.

  4. Import the entry using JabRef Extension.

RESULT: The entry is imported successfully but a webpage is also opened with title "Error connecting to JabRef". Screenshots are attached below.

@calixtus - Is this related to #10044?
@bhatiaa1 JabRef 5.4 is already a little old. To find the regression window, It would be really nice to know, if JabRef 5.9 works for you.
