Some basic end-user documentation that needs to be written, with screenshots. The 7.x-1.x documentation has an example: https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/ISLANDORA/How+to+Purge+an+Object

Working on this issue.

Do we want to maintain the Delete vs Purge forever option in Islandora 7.x-2 ?

The Drupal Killfile Module provides a trashcan-like option for drupal content which "... can be retained for a configurable span of time before being permanently purged."

I imagine there are other ways to achieve this too.

@dmoses worth a Tech Call discussion?

@dmoses, i was giving this a thought. I think we should keep on with Fedora4 by keeping a tombstone drupal entity right on deletion. I don't think we have the "deleted" state in fedora4 (please correct me), but i was thinking also in having some extra states at drupal side so we can, e.g detach local changes from fedora wide changes, in case something goes wrong. Good for a tech call idea? Maybe a "deleted" state can be local drupal property only.

Yes worth a discussion to figure out the mechanics and what we'd like to achieve within the platform.

Also wondered whether I should document both the Drupal method for deleting and the Fedora 4 GUI method?

Currently when deleting an object in Fedora, it does not delete the associated Drupal node.

Deleting in Fedora can be pretty dramatic

Deleting a container will result in all descendants (children and children's children) being deleted as well. Deleting content is final and cannot be undone.

@dmoses I'd go with just documenting our end and linking out to Fedora docs for their delete. Which seems to be here: https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/FEDORA44/Feature+Tour+-+Action+-+Delete

Render unto the Fedora4 project that which is their problem, and such :)

@dmoses. Worth a lot of discussion. Like what happens i we expose using multiple drupal sites the same fedora content…and also if we should also be considering at this stage some editorial workflow
@manez++ on letting fedora4 docs at that level.
