<p>This course is being taught January-Feburary 2021 virtually over WebEx. For WebEx information, please contact the course instructors. Lessons will be recorded and shared as soon as they become available via links from google drive.</p>

<h2>Course content</h2>
<p>A <a href="https://emilymarkowitz-noaa.github.io/FishR101/">github website</a> and repositories will be set up for each lesson. More details will be shared soon and during our first lesson.</p>
<p><em>Fun fact you might have already guessed: this whole website was built using R! (Check out the code we used to create it <a href="https://github.com/emilymarkowitz-NOAA/FishR101">here</a>).</em></p>

<li>3.5 hours (including breaks), 2x/wk, 5 weeks</li>
<li>Review HW from previous lesson ~10 mins</li>
<li>Introduce new materials ~40 min</li>
<li>Interactive learning ~40 min</li>
<li>Homework assignment (about ½ hour of work) ~30 mins (assigned for next meeting)</li>
<li>Open time for help from instructors (on hw or otherwise) ~ 1.5 hrs</li>

<h2>Assignments</h2>
<p>Assignments are for the student’s benefit and no grades will be collected. Assignments are intended to give students the opportunity to practice and explore the material and reinforce lesson material. Ideally, homeworks should take 30 minutes or less to complete. Time will be available after each lesson to assist with questions.</p>

<h2>Course pep-talk</h2>
<p>We want you to be able to really <em>learn</em> in this course! We want this to be a safe space to ask questions, help one another, and have no one feel like they are being left behind. If you feel like it is moving too fast, come to office hours or please let us know. We (and the other students) are some of your many resources. R is not intuitive or easy to learn, but once you get over the hump, opprotunities are boundless. Please, <em>do not</em> hesitate to reach out!</p>
