Can we customize the Expander Header Arrow Icon?

Hi,

For the UWP Expander control.

We'd like to customize the header icon with + & - icons instead of Arrow.

Please let me know how to do that.

Hi @sidharthakaryampudi, are you using the Expander only in the up/down expand modes? If so, I'd recommend switching to the WinUI version of the component instead.

There should be ExpanderChevronUpGlyph and ExpanderChevronDownGlyph resources seen here which you can override in your Expander's Resources dictionary to achieve your desired outcome.

That up/down arrows i want to change to + & -.

I don't have any experience with WinUI.
Could you please provide me with some references/sample on how to add WinUI version of the component in the existing UWP application?

@sidharthakaryampudi yup, their getting started guide in the docs is here.

The example in this section here shows how to add Resources to an element. So you could do this with Expander to provide your own string values for those resource keys I called out. That should work.

Hi @michael-hawker, For using the WinUI the minimum target version should be TargetPlatformVersion >= 10.0.18362.0.
But for my project minimum target version must be 15063. I cannot upgrade it now.

So, other than Win UI, is there any other alternative options?

Also to inform you that I am using Microsoft Visual Studio 2017 not 2019.
I cannot upgrade the version right now.

@sidharthakaryampudi why do you need to support down to 15063? All those versions are not supported since 2019 and hardly used by anyone. 17763 is the LTS release after that one, which is why the Windows App SDK and the Toolkit are targeting that release while it's still in use.
