Functionality is needed to be able to identify what is the intersection of two topologies with different subsystems. For example:

-1 --> (01) 2 --> 0 1 2
-1 --> 0 (12) --> 0 1 2
(01) & (12) = 2

This functionality is needed for the alignment of different subsystems.
