This ticket is tracking the various updates/additions we want to make to the documentation site alongside the WordPress 6.2 release.

Anne McCarthy wrote a great article summarizing a lot of the updates in 6.2 which I am using as one of my references: https://nomad.blog/2023/03/01/wordpress-6-2-source-of-truth/

Updates:

  • Anatomy of a Block - Split Settings Sidebar
  • Patterns - Pattern screenshots to showcase new inserter
  • Patterns - Query Loop variation specific setup patterns
  • Theme.json - Shadow Presets (shadow block support)
  • Theme.json - Fluid typography minimal size
  • Block Supports - Min Height
  • Image sizing refinements
  • Group block variation picker

New additions:

  • Sticky Positioning
  • Block Layout with controls on children like fill, fit etc
  • WP_HTML_Tag_Processor
  • Copy Paste Block Styles
