+1 -- this is super super annoying when you want to preview as you compose. I dont think it shoudl do it in the file necessarily - but it should open a new tab not close your json file completely.

Would also be killer to have a "preview" option that allows you to have the other tab in a new panel and have it compose as you save and/or type like how markdown preview works.

Composing JSON would be insanely awesome then even in situations that yaml isnt supported and you just want to make JSON objects.
