I found this project very interesting and would like to contribute to expanding it. I would like to create a website that could use this model to show poverty on a large scale and also provides trends and analytics for poverty over time. Planet allows daily access to satellite data which would allow me to get high frequency insights. https://www.planet.com/products/monitoring/
Hi SustainLab Group.
There are websites like https://sedac.ciesin.columbia.edu/data/collection/povmap/maps/gallery/search?facets=theme:poverty&facets=region:africa but nothing that seems to give an easy to use UI which allows someone to shift a map with some simple scrolling and clicking. An abstract example to something I would like to make is the John Hopkins Website Coronavirus Website (https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/map.html).
Some research has been published on the possibility of this in https://www.researchgate.net/publication/344038389_High-Resolution_Poverty_Maps_in_Sub-Saharan_Africa and, of course, https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-020-16185-w .
Do you all believe that a project and website like this would be impactful and useful for the real world?
