Perhaps there's already a way to accomplish this, but if user1 shares his 'documents' folder with the group "team" and user2 shares his 'documents' folder with group "team" and then user3, who is also part of group "team" looks at his shared files he'll see:
documents
documents (2)
documents (n)... for n team members.

This is nuts. The group "team" just wants a single folder called "documents" that everyone in "team" can use and share together. Why isn't this easier to set up?

I am not sure if I understood what you mean, but from ownCloud 7, you will be having your shares with a folder which you can move freely (not in a Shared directory). So one user can create a folder named documents, share it with user2 and user3 (or the team named team). If he gives enough permissions to the group team (rename/upload etc.), the members of this team will be seeing the same folder and they will not need to create a folder named document and share it again.

Does this answer your question?

That sounds great. I finally figured out that I could achieve the effect I wanted within Shared. This should be closed.
