An Aperture
represents an opening in a Face
through which light can pass. Most commonly, Apertures
are windows but they can also be used to represent more complex openings like daylight domes, light tubes, etc.
Only two options are acceptable for the "boundary_condition"
key of an Aperture
:
Outdoors
Surface
Apertures possess an optional "is_operable"
property to note whether the Aperture can be opened for ventilation. This property can be used across extensions to ensure that different simulation engines distinguish between fixed and operable Apertures.
The Aperture
also possesses a key for "indoor_shades"
, which can represent window sills and mullions as well as an "outdoor_shades"
key, which can be used to represent louvers, fins, light shelves, etc.
