In ipfs/kubo#5789 a command line flag --upgrade-cidv0-in-output has been implemented to allow users to opt out of automatically having version 0 CIDs upgraded to version 1 in output when using the --cid-base flag.

js-ipfs is being deprecated in favor of Helia. You can #4336 and read the migration guide.

Helia presents a programmatic API and CIDs are returned as objects - users are free to turn them into other CID versions as they wish.
