Personally, I wouldn't be interested in detecting areas while using move_and_collide to handle physical movement. I think it would be messy, and hurt my project's performance where it isn't needed. Are signals unsuitable for your use case? How about adding an area to your KinematicBody scene, so that it can detect other areas as needed? I think those are the intended solutions to this type of problem. |

I've had to implement area detection as physics space checks, but since I also need move_and_collide for collisions, it feels superfluous when KinemeticBody could just detect areas and return the results in its KinemeticCollision data. Is there a particular reason it can't be enabled or implemented as it can with direct space physics?
