Possible M1 chip compatibility issue with Google Earth Engine

During testing on a new M1 macbook, an issue with interacting with Google Earth Engine (GEE) was discovered. Namely, that GEE would return the following error when trying to extract the Sentinel-2 images: "Projection: The CRA of a map projection could not be parsed (Error code: 3)".
This occurred even when identical projection files (.prj) were being passed into GEE as had worked on another OS.

As such, the assumption is that is related to the M1 chip in some way, but the root cause could not be ascertained.
