CGNS now support curved cubic elements (CPEX 0036).

Now we have to wait a mesh generators that can use this feature.

I also saw this, but it will be in the next version of CGNS, 3.2, which is now in beta

Yes. However, even when the stable 3.2 will be released we have to hold on because no grid generators support this feature. I guess you could add FEATURE label to this issue. Thanks

Well, technically, any mesh in cf3 that has P3 elements COULD (if implemented) be written in CGNS with cubic elements.

This means that P3 Gmsh meshes could be transformed by us, and Gmsh could be used as grid generator for such CGNS meshes
