In the cookbook gallery and the portal homepage, headings are black on a dark background:

I would add that only the Foundations Page has the toggle to turn dark mode on or off. All other instances (e.g., the Cookbook Gallery) are perpetually in dark mode.

I think that would depend on your system- or browser-level settings. For me, the gallery page is perpetually on light mode.
